Inspired by interstitial space and nature’s raw materials, Pilar Agueci’s work plays with contrast and volume. In paring dissimilar elements together—stone and gem, pearl and metal—her work has a unique balance and timelessness.
Raised in British Columbia, Pilar received her bachelor’s degree in Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design and continued her studies with an Artistic Residency in Jewelry and Silversmithing Department of the Glasgow School of Art.
During her time in Europe, she developed her production skills, started her career as an educator and furthered her practice with workshops, studying at the renowned Alchimia Contemporary Jewelry School in Holland with jewelry artist Ruudt Peters.
On her return to Canada, she worked with contemporary jeweler Janis Kerman further honing her technical skills, before launching her own line and opening her flagship boutique in 2017.
Drawing on her artistic training, Pilar’s designs focus on the singularity of the material, highlighting its natural magnetism.
